Crop Scout / Agronomy Assistant
Job details
Full job description
Prairie Sky Agriculture is hiring a Crop Scout / Agronomy Assistant to join our Laval team.
About Prairie Sky Agriculture
Prairie Sky Agriculture is a family-owned agriculture business based in Laval. Founded in 2017, we run 2 locations in Greater Montréal and employ a tight team that values doing the work well over scale.
About the role
You'll walk fields and tell growers what's actually happening in them. Day to day you'll scout crops for weeds, insects, and disease, assess staging and stand counts, pull soil and tissue samples, and record observations with field mapping apps. You'll report findings to the agronomist, flag thresholds that justify action, and help with trial plots, equipment calibration, and grain or forage sampling through the season.
What you'll bring
You bring agronomy training or farm experience and the discipline to scout thoroughly when it's hot, buggy, and tempting to drive past. You identify common regional weeds and pests, take clear notes, and enjoy working outdoors independently. A valid driver's licence is required.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We respond to everyone we shortlist.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in agronomy, agriculture, or a related field (or equivalent farm experience)
- Ability to identify common weeds, insects, and crop diseases
- Valid driver's licence and comfort working outdoors in all conditions
- Eligibility to work in Canada
Benefits
- Salaried compensation with seasonal performance bonus
- Year-round work with cross-training in off-season
- Health and dental benefits
- Use of the company truck for work travel
